DEVELOPERS

Turning water from a constraint into a bankable enabler.

Water is not a technical detail, it is a gating factor. Without assured capacity, approvals stall, funding pauses, and projects sit idle while carrying cost accumulates. Kalabas enables developers to secure reliable water capacity on timelines that align with development cycles, rather than waiting years for municipal infrastructure to catch up.

Independent water capacity

Decentralised supply enables developments to proceed when municipal bulk water cannot.

Accelerated delivery

Approximately 10 months to operation, unlocking earlier occupation and cash flow.

Phase-aligned scalability

Add capacity as development phases complete, not locked into oversized infrastructure.

Built for variable supplyBuilt for variable supply

Operates reliably across multiple water sources and extreme quality variability.

Compact footprint

Approximately one-third the space of conventional plants, freeing land for development value.

The reality shaping development decisions

Municipal water constraints are not isolated issues. Entire developments can stall if bulk supply cannot be guaranteed or downstream sewer capacity is unavailable.
The gating factor
Lengthy water-use licensing processes compound the problem. Projects can remain frozen for years while approvals are pursued, capital sits unproductive, and financing assumptions erode. In this environment, water infrastructure can become the single biggest risk to delivery.

Enabling projects to move forward

Kalabas provides a decentralised potable water solution when municipal bulk supply is unavailable or unreliable. Instead of waiting for central infrastructure upgrades, developers can deploy independent water capacity and proceed with construction.
"Water shifts from an external dependency to a controllable input, letting projects unlock approvals, meet financing milestones, and move toward occupation."

Timeframes that align with development economics

Traditional water infrastructure can take four to six years to plan and deliver, timelines that rarely align with commercial development cycles. Kalabas compresses that window dramatically.

Asset lifespan
With deployment possible in roughly ten months, developers can meet market windows, align with tenant demand, and bring projects to revenue far earlier than conventional approaches allow.

Scaling capacity in step with phased development

Kalabas's modular architecture lets developers install only the capacity required for initial phases, then expand as the project grows. This avoids over-investing upfront in infrastructure that does not immediately generate value.

01

Phase one

Deploy minimum viable capacity for first occupation. No overbuilding, no stranded assets.

02

Phase two

Add modules in parallel as the next development phase completes. No redesign required.

03

Full scale

Capacity scales from 0.1 MLD to over 100 MLD without major civil modification.

Supporting licensing and regulatory pathways

Water-use licensing and service-provider approvals remain unavoidable, but Kalabas reduces their impact on project momentum. Through our Tecroveer consulting arm, the team can support water-use licence applications and the process of becoming a registered water services provider, typically a 300-day process.

Importantly, construction can begin at risk while licensing is underway, allowing progress on site even though water production only commences once approvals are finalised.

Flexibility in water sources and site conditions

Kalabas can operate on river water, groundwater, or other available sources, providing flexibility in site selection and reducing dependence on single supply points. Its integrated grit and silt removal allows direct feed from variable sources, while maintaining performance even under challenging conditions, including turbidity levels exceeding 400 NTU.

Long-term security for occupants and investors

With an expected lifespan of around 25 years, Kalabas provides durable water security for residents, tenants, and investors alike. Its resilience to water-quality variation and energy instability supports consistent service delivery over the long term, strengthening the overall investment case for the development.
"Reliable water becomes a bankable asset, not a liability that needs to be managed around."
